A new Fox News poll shows the Texas Senate race tied, 49% to 49%, between Democrat James Talarico and Republican Ken Paxton.
51% to 49% was Talarico's lead in Fox's previous poll. 98% of Democrats back Talarico; 90% of Republicans back Paxton. 30 points is Talarico's margin among Hispanic voters, 64% to 34%. 1.9 points was Paxton's deficit in the RealClearPolitics average before Fox's poll. Why it matters: The seat, held by retiring Sen. John Cornyn, could shape Senate control. Democrats need a net gain of four seats.
Most October polls show Talarico ahead by 2 to 6 points. Fox attributes Paxton's gain to conservatives, rural voters and suburban women.
