Father Who Killed Oregon School Shooter Describes Deadly Attack
Kaylub Giamanco, 36, described stopping the Oct. 15 shooting at his daughters' Bend elementary school. He spoke in his first interview, with Oregon Public Broadcasting.
4 people killed: teacher Megan Lambert, 25, and three boys.
Three boys killed were ages 5, 8 and 11.
16-year-old former student Griffin J. John II carried a shotgun.
Giamanco shot him, then fired twice more as he reached for the gun.
Why it matters: Police credit two people with limiting the deaths: Giamanco and a teacher who fought the gunman. Police said Giamanco carried his handgun legally in his truck.
The unnamed teacher threw her phone, tackled the attacker and grabbed for the shotgun.
President Donald Trump called Giamanco a great hero the day after the shooting.
