Talarico Returns to Trail After Two-Week Illness Absence
Texas Senate candidate James Talarico has not campaigned publicly for 12 days. His campaign says he has the flu. Trump and Ken Paxton say the explanation does not add up.
Sept. 26: Talarico's last public appearance in Texas, a Carrollton press conference.
Sept. 30: Talarico told a business group by video he had the flu.
Paxton's campaign posted missing-person flyers and demanded what it calls proof of life.
Trump called Talarico missing in action and urged a debate with Paxton.
Why it matters: The race is close in a state Trump won by double digits in 2024. Early voting starts soon, and Election Day is under four weeks away.
A New York Times/Siena poll showed Talarico leading Paxton by six points.
A UMass Lowell/YouGov poll showed the two tied at 45% each.
