Biden, Jr. spoke today with President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa to commend the Republic of South Africa for forming a Government of National Unity and to congratulate him on his recent re-election by the National Assembly to serve again as President of the Republic of South Africa. President Biden highlighted South Africa’s legacy as a democratic leader, as South Africa celebrates 30 years of democracy. The two leaders discussed South Africa’s Government of National Unity and a commitment from all parties to work in partnership towards a growing economy, better jobs, safer communities, and a government that works for its people. They also discussed the U.S.-South Africa bilateral relationship, and areas of future partnership, including leadership in the G20.
