The Vice President and King Abdullah discussed their work together to strengthen U.S.-Jordan ties across numerous meetings and phone calls. The Vice President and King Abdullah discussed the ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, and expressed their expectation that it will be implemented fully and on schedule. The Vice President welcomed that the deal would return hostages to their families, bring immediate relief to the people of Gaza through a surge in humanitarian aid, and form the basis for a lasting end to the war. The Vice President noted that, in her conversations with King Abdullah and leaders across the region, her unwavering focus has been to end this war such that Israel is secure, the hostages are released, the suffering in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, security, freedom, and self-determination. The Vice President expressed appreciation for Jordan’s role in helping to facilitate aid to Palestinian civilians and the King’s leadership in advancing regional peace and stability.
