Fastrack · Trump Plans Closing Pitch at Reflecting Pool Before Midterms

President Donald Trump said Sunday he plans to deliver a closing midterm message at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. He said an event there would "show how beautiful it is."

25+ rallies over the past month, mostly in conservative areas.
$1.5 million was Trump's initial estimate for the pool repair.
10 times that estimate is where the final budget ended up.
3 months late: repairs finished well after the Independence Day target.

Why it matters: The pool project has drawn scrutiny over cost, delays and blame for its failures. Trump is choosing it as his backdrop the day before polls open.

Algae bloomed and the blue liner peeled after Trump declared the project finished.
Trump blames vandals; Jeanine Pirro's office cited poor workmanship.
Prosecutors charged, then dropped a case against former Olympian David Hearn.
