Stevens' Chief of Staff and Aides Resign Over Rogers Endorsement
Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) endorsed Republican Mike Rogers for Senate on Sunday. Her chief of staff and other aides resigned in response.
8 years: Justin German's tenure as chief of staff before resigning.
Communications director Logan Basch also left the office.
Stevens lost the August primary to El-Sayed, then endorsed him.
Stevens appeared with Rogers at Perfecting Church in Detroit Sunday morning.
Why it matters: The switch followed a weekend dispute over an outside ad linking U.S. aid to Israel with grocery prices. Jewish leaders condemned the ad as antisemitic.
Rebellion PAC made the ad; El-Sayed said his campaign had no role and he disagreed with it.
Stevens said El-Sayed told her she was not welcome in his campaign.
State party chair Curtis Hertel said Stevens is not, and will not be, a party member.
