Pentagon Watchdog Declines to Probe Starlink Slowdowns in Ukraine
The Pentagon inspector general has declined a bipartisan request to investigate slowdowns of Starlink and Starshield service in Ukraine. The decision came in a letter dated Tuesday.
9 senators signed the request: four Republicans and five Democrats.
Sens. Thom Tillis and Jeanne Shaheen led the request.
Inspector General Platte Moring referred questions to the Air Force and Space Force.
Zelenskyy said Saturday that both services were fully restored.
Why it matters: Ukrainian officials say the slowdown kept them from intercepting some Russian attack drones. Lawmakers want to know whether U.S. officials played a role.
Musk said Ukraine used commercial Starlink for offensive drone strikes, breaking its terms.
Musk said the U.S. government controls Starshield, a separate system.
