Mecca Pact Officials Set to Meet Iran Monday, Sources Say
Top officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are set to meet Iranian officials in Tehran on Monday. Two people with knowledge of the matter said the talks will cover regional coordination.
Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman will represent Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan's army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, will attend for Pakistan.
Turkey's head of intelligence will also join, one source said.
Saudi and Pakistani officials did not respond to requests for comment.
Why it matters: Saudi Arabia faces escalating missile and drone attacks from Yemen's Houthis, who are aligned with Iran. Saudi forces intercepted another wave on Sunday.
The fighting has made Saudi Arabia a pressure point in the US-Israeli offensive against Iran.
The August pact treats an armed attack on one member as an attack on all.
