Fastrack · Rays Clinch AL Pennant, Will Face Brewers in World Series

The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in Game 6 of the ALCS on Monday. They clinched their third American League pennant.

5⅓ innings, one run allowed by starter Freddy Peralta.
Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz each hit two-run home runs.
40,230 fans filled a sold-out Tropicana Field.
The Brewers swept the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.

Why it matters: The Rays and Brewers are two of five MLB franchises without a World Series title. One will win its first.

The Rays lost World Series in 2008 and 2020.
The Brewers' only World Series trip was a 1982 loss to St. Louis.
Both teams ranked in the bottom half of MLB payrolls, 19th and 25th.
