Trump Fires Ambassador Guilfoyle After Misconduct Reports
The White House has asked Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign as U.S. ambassador to Greece. Press secretary Katie Zacharia announced it Tuesday at her first briefing.
$100,000 card bill: The Wall Street Journal reported Guilfoyle asked a Trump donor to pay it.
Donor Eric Deters says he never made the payment.
The Journal reported she promoted Greek firm Aktor Group's interests.
Her attorney says the messages are disputed and the money was owed.
Why it matters: Guilfoyle is a longtime Trump ally and fundraiser who was once engaged to Donald Trump Jr. Her exit came one day after Trump said, "We're not happy."
The Journal reported she suggested the U.S. could undermine Greece's government.
Greece's energy minister denied any threat was made.
