Iran and U.S. Trade Threats as Fighting Escalates.

Iran has laid out its conditions for re-entering negotiations with the US to end the war, security chief Mohsen Rezaei said Saturday. Qatari and Pakistani mediators are carrying the terms to Washington.

• 3 conditions: end the war on all fronts, unfreeze Iranian funds, lift the naval blockade.
• The war has dragged past the six-month mark with no resolution.
• Iran is now awaiting a formal response from President Trump, Rezaei said.
• Black smoke was seen near Riyadh's main airport Saturday after explosions were heard.

Why it matters: The Iran-US war is at a stalemate, and a separate Houthi campaign is threatening to pull Saudi Arabia deeper into the conflict.

• Houthis have launched strikes on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea since declaring a naval blockade against Riyadh in July.
• The UN Security Council warned Friday that continued Houthi escalation risks expanding the conflict and worsening Yemen's humanitarian crisis.
