South Carolina Senate Race Tightens Without Lindsey Graham.
Darline Graham leads a 10-candidate Republican special primary field in South Carolina, with the Aug. 11 vote days away. She holds the seat her brother Lindsey Graham occupied until his death on July 11.
- 30.4% back Graham in the latest Quantus Insights poll, ahead of Ralph Norman at 17.5%.
- 41,000-plus early ballots were cast in the first two days of early voting.
- Polymarket bettors give Graham roughly a 65% chance of finishing first on Tuesday.
- Trump endorsed Graham on Truth Social, calling her a 'spectacular person' and 'true American Patriot.'
Why it matters: Graham was appointed July 14 to fill the vacancy and declared her candidacy for a full six-year term within days. She has never run for or held elected office.
- She remained in Washington for most Senate votes rather than campaigning, skipping one debate and speaking at only two in-person forums.
- Gibbs Knotts, a political science professor at Coastal Carolina University, said a bruising primary could leave the eventual nominee weakened heading into a general election.
